Industrial Cost Analyst Support

We are seeking an Industrial Cost Analyst to join the projects team of Octagon Professionals, supporting activities at the European Space Agency’s ESTEC in Noordwijk, the Netherlands.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of the space industry within a highly international and innovative environment. The successful candidate will be employed by Octagon Professionals and will contribute directly to ESA’s procurement and financial evaluation processes.

Role & Responsibilities

As an Industrial Cost Analyst, you will support industrial cost analysis and audit activities related to ESA procurement processes. Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting financial viability audits through detailed reviews of company financial data

• Analysing companies’ financial viability and co-funded capacity

• Reviewing and assessing business plans

• Conducting research using sources such as ORBIS and other online platforms to evaluate entities

• Supporting day-to-day audit activities, including preparing concise and accurate documentation (e.g. draft audit reports), performing data analysis and validation, collecting relevant financial and operational information

• Preparing dashboards, statistics, and KPIs related to team service requests

• Managing regular data input and extraction across databases and tools

• Searching, extracting, verifying, and publishing inflation and price statistics

• Supporting the enhancement of IT tools by gathering and clarifying user requirements, participating in user acceptance testing (UAT), providing feedback to improve usability, assisting with troubleshooting and deployment of updates.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Accountancy, Audit, Finance, Economics, or related field

• 2-4 years of progressive experience in audit within a large accountancy firm and/or relevant commercial audit or financial analysis environment

• Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerBI, and Copilot

• Experience using audit data for statistical analysis and benchmarking

• Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively

• Fluency in English (mandatory)

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Knowledge of an additional European language

• Experience working in international or institutional environments

• Familiarity with procurement processes or public sector auditing

• Exposure to financial analysis within technical, engineering, or industrial sectors
